Xiong Jing Nan defends title against Michelle Nicolini in all-women’s ONE event in May

Michele Nicolini (pictured) will challenge for the ONE Championship strawweight belt in Singapore. | ONE Championship ONE Championship will celebrate women with an all-female event on May 28, the company announced Friday. ESPN first reported the news.
The five-fight show will be headlined by strawweight queen Xiong Jing Nan, who looks to defend her belt for the fifth time as she meets Brazilian jiu-jitsu icon Michelle Nicolini in Singapore.
Nan (15-2) has finished four opponents under the ONE belt since her debut in 2017, including a fifth-round stoppage against Angela Lee. In her latest bout, “The Panda” defeated Tiffany Teo via decision.
Nicolini (6-2) won four of five under the company’s banner, but hasn’t competed since a decision victory over Angela Lee in July 2019. Nicolini is an eight-time jiu-jitsu world champion and one-time ADCC gold medalist.
The four remaining matches on the card will be part of the company’s atomweight grand prix, who crowns the next in line for ONE champion Angela Lee. The quarterfinals feature Denice Zamboanga vs. Seo Hee Ham, Meng Bo vs. Ritu Phogat, Stamp Fairtex vs. Alyona Rassohyna, and Itsuki Hirata vs. Alyse Anderson.
