Photo by Chris Unger/DWCS LLC/Zuffa LLC Luis Saldana got a win and a highlight-reel finish on the Contender Series – normally a pretty good recipe to earn a UFC contract.
Saldana, who competed in his 20th professional fight, took on Team Alpha Male’s Vince Murdock on the second bout of DWCS Season 4: Week 8 Wednesday night in Las Vegas. After an impressive first two rounds on the feet, Saldana came out even more aggressive to kick off the third and final round.
Just days after Anderson Silva made what looks to be his final walk to the octagon, Saldana landed a pair of front kicks to the face to drop Murdock and jumped on top with ground and pound until the referee waved it off.

The Arizona native earned his fourth consecutive victory, all by finish, as he looks to become the newest member of the surging UFC featherweight division. It was Saldana’s first fight since a second-round submission win at LFA 60 in February 2019.
Murdock’s five-fight unbeaten streak came to an end in his incredible return to competition less than a year after brain surgery.
UFC President Dana White was quite impressed with Saldana.
He did what!?
