Esther Lin, MMA Fighting A welterweight matchup has been added to the UFC’s Nov. 28 fight card.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a bout between Takashi Sato and Miguel Baeza has been added to the event, which is scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Sato has won two of three octagon contests, including a 48 second finish of Jason Witt in his most recent appearance in June at UFC Vegas 12. The 30-year-old began his UFC tenure with a second-round TKO win over Ben Saunders in April 2019. Five months later at UFC 242, Sato was submitted by Belal Muhammad.
MMA DNA was first to report the booking.
Baeza has won all nine of his professional fights, seven of which were before they went to the judges’ scorecards. “Caramel Thunder” earned a UFC contract when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Victor Reyna on Dana White’s Contender Series in June 2019. The MMA Masters 170-pounder has won both of his octagon bouts with finishes in the second round of Hector Aldana and, most recently at UFC on ESPN 8 in May, Matt Brown. The 28-year-old was scheduled to face Mickey Gall at UFC Vegas 11 before an injury forced Gall out of the matchup.
The UFC’s Nov. 28 event will be headlined by a pivotal heavyweight matchup between Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis.
