Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Benson Henderson is heading back to the welterweight division to taking on a streaking contender.
Promotional officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that Henderson will face Jason Jackson in the co-main event of Bellator 253. The event takes place Nov. 19 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. and will air on the CBS Sports Network.
Henderson will look to bounce back from his first stoppage loss in seven years to Michael Chandler in the main event of August’s Bellator 243. Heading into that matchup, “Smooth” had won four straight fights, which includes victories over Roger Huerta, Saad Awad, Adam Piccolotti and Myles Jury. The former UFC lightweight champion is set to make his 10th promotional appearance.
Jackson has won his last two fights after dropping a razor close split decision to Ed Ruth at Bellator 231. “The Ass-Kicking Machine” last appeared at July’s Bellator 242 event and earned a unanimous decision over Jordan Mein.
Bellator 253 will be headlined by a featherweight grand prix matchup between former 135-pound champ Darrion Caldwell and AJ McKee.
