Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Aaron Pico can add another highlight-reel victory to his resume following a jaw-dropping win at Bellator 252.
The 24-year-old prospect connected with a hellacious overhand right that snapped opponent John de Jesus’ head around in a violent motion before the fight was finished just a few seconds later. The end came at 4:12 in the second round as Pico moves to 7-3 overall in his career.
Afterwards, Pico paid homage to his coaches at the famed Jackson-Winkeljohn academy in New Mexico where he’s been working for his past few fights.
“When I first went to Albuquerque I was broken,” Pico said. “They rebuilt me. I was broken. I didn’t really tell them but I think they knew.”

Prior to the knockout, Pico had punished de Jesus throughout the opening round after he landed an early takedown and then just unloaded with ground and pound. There were a few moments where it appeared Pico might put de Jesus away but the fight continued into the second round.
From there, Pico started to focus more on his striking and it turns out he was anticipating a particular combination from de Jesus that his coaches picked up watching past videos of his performances. Once Pico heard de Jesus’ corner call for that series of punches, he unleashed the overhand right that led to the finish.
As soon as Pico’s punch landed, de Jesus was almost lifted off his feet before crashing back down to the ground. Pico delivered a few more shots before the referee finally swooped into stop the contest.
Pico is now 3-0 in his past three fights since working with the team at Jackson-Winkeljohn and the sky remains the limit for the former Olympic wrestling hopeful.
