Antonio Arroyo says Eryk Anders fight is off of UFC Vegas 14

Eryk Anders and Antonio Arroyo were scheduled to meet in a three-round bout on Saturday night. | Zuffa LLC A middleweight showdown between Eryk Anders and Antonio Arroyo has been pulled from Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 14 at the UFC APEX, the Brazilian fighter announced on his social media in the early hours of the day.
Anders missed weight by 1.5 pounds on Friday morning, and Arroyo’s cornerman Marcelo Alfaya wrote on his social media that “opponent was sick and went to hospital.”
“Ya Boi” (13-5) had a brief run as a light heavyweight in 2019, going 1-1 in the division before returning to 185 pounds with a split decision victory over Gerald Meerschaert. In his most recent appearance in May, Anders lost a decision to Krzysztof Jotko.
Arroyo (9-3) also had health-related issues back in February, falling ill after making weight for 185-pound clash with Trevin Giles at UFC 247. The Contender Series product hasn’t fought since his UFC debut loss to Andre Muniz a year ago.
UFC Vegas 14 will proceed with 10 bouts. Former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will take on late-notice replacement Paul Felder in a five-round main event. The UFC has yet to announce which bout will be moved to the main card after the cancellation of Anders-Arroyo.
