UFC Vegas 14 video: Sean Strickland pummels Brendan Allen with punches to earn second-round knockout

Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC Sean Strickland was out for over two years dealing with injuries suffered in a horrific motorcycle accident but he’s now managed picked up two wins in just two weeks following his return to the UFC.
After earning a victory on Halloween, Strickland accepted a late notice fight against Brendan Allen at UFC Vegas 14 and he certainly made the most of it. Strickland battered Allen with strikes throughout the fight but it was a staggering combination of rapid-fire punches that ultimately led to the TKO finish at 1:32 in the second round.
“I really wanted to finish that,” Strickland said afterwards. “I know he’s never been dropped or knocked out in a bigger show. I hit him and I could see the lights were on and nobody’s home. That guy had a chin on him.”
After going three rounds in his previous fight, Strickland didn’t seem to skip a beat as he came out ultra-busy in the opening round while establishing a stiff jab that was consistently snapping Allen’s head back. Strickland’s output was just relentless but Allen wasn’t backing down while showing willingness to stand and trade with him at every turn.
While Allen was throwing with power, Strickland was just staying in his face and peppering away with punches in bunches.
As the damage started to mount, Strickland was connecting with even more regularity as Allen started to show the wear and tear from the strikes he was absorbing.
The beginning of the end came after Strickland cracked Allen with a well-timed right hand that led to a knockdown. As soon as he smelled blood in the water, Strickland went for the kill with a barrage of punches that continued to chip away at Allen until he was eating punches without any signs of fighting back.
At that point, the referee had no choice but to stop the carnage before Allen took anymore damage.
After nearly having his career ended from that accident, Strickland has returned to the UFC looking better than ever with two wins in the past two weeks including the finish against a legit middleweight contender in Allen on Saturday night.
