Nasrat Haqparast | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting A lightweight matchup with possible top-15 implications has been added to the UFC’s first pay-per-view event of the new year.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a fight between Nasrat Haqparast and Arman Tsarukyan will go down at UFC 257. The event takes place Jan. 23 and, although it has yet to be officially announced, is expected to take place on Fight Island.
MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.
Haqparast makes his sixth UFC appearance and looks to build upon his most recent outing—a unanimous decision win over Alex Munoz at UFC Vegas 6 in August. The 25-year-old also holds octagon victories over Marc Diakiese, Thibault Gouti and Joaquim Silva.
After losing a hard fought decision to Islam Makhachev in his octagon debut, Tsarukyan has picked up consecutive victories. The 24-year-old scored his first promotional win against Olivier Aubin-Mercier at UFC 240, and earned a unanimous decision in his only 2020 appearance against Davi Ramos at UFC Fight Island 2 in July.
UFC 257 will be headlined by a lightweight rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
