Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC Nathan Maness and Luke Sanders began the UFC Vegas 15 card in an exciting way, but it was the former who ultimately got the job done after overcoming some early adversity.
The 140-pound catchweight bout took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. After taking some big shots in the opening round, Maness was able to bounce back in the second round when he dropped Sanders with a vicious right hand.
“Mayhem” pounced on his opponent quickly, getting into full mount before taking Sanders’ back and quickly locking in a rear-naked choke which forced a tap at the 2:29 mark of the second round.

Maness has now won his past three bouts and improved to 13-1 overall. The 29-year-old made his octagon debut at UFC Vegas 5 in August and picked up a unanimous decision victory over Johnny Munoz.
Sanders returned to the octagon for the first time since his February 2019 TKO win over former bantamweight champion Renan Barao. “Cool Hand” falls to 3-4 in his promotional tenure.
