Warlley Alves will return to the octagon 14 months after his most recent UFC fight. | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting A welterweight showdown between Warlley Alves and Christian Aguilera was added to the first UFC card of 2021, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting.
The UFC Fight Night show will go down Jan. 16 and feature Max Holloway vs. Calvin Kattar in the main event. The company has yet to officially announce if it will take place in Las Vegas or at Abu Dhabi’s Fight Island.
Alves (13-4) looks to get back on track after a second-round defeat to Randy Brown in November 2019. The TUF: Brazil 3 middleweight winner scored stoppage wins over the likes of Colby Covington, Nordine Taleb and Sergio Moraes throughout his UFC career, but dropped two of his last three in the octagon.
Aguilera (14-7) impressed in his first UFC appearance in June, knocking out Anthony Ivy in spectacular fashion in just 59 seconds at the UFC APEX, but lost via submission to Sean Brady in his following bout less than three months later.
