Esther Lin, MMA Fighting A pair of bantamweight veterans will try to snap recent skids when Eddie Wineland and John Castaneda meet at a UFC event on Feb. 20.
Verbal agreements are in place and contracts are expected to be signed for the fight, which was first reported by MMA Junkie and confirmed to MMA Fighting with multiple people close to the fighters. A location and venue for the event has yet to be confirmed.
Both of the bantamweights have suffered recent setbacks. Former WEC champion Wineland returns to the octagon eight months after a brutal knockout loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 250, which sent him back to the drawing board after a TKO of Grigory Popov at UFC 238. The veteran stands at 1-3 in his past four outings.
Castaneda, a Combate Americas veteran, seeks his first UFC win after his debut against Nathaniel Wood ended in a unanimous decision loss at UFC Fight Island 3. He is also 103 in his previous four outings.
A headliner for the Feb. 20 card has yet to be confirmed.
