Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC After 10 minutes, it seemed as if Chase Hooper was about to drop his second straight UFC fight.
“The Dream” dropped the first two rounds to Peter Barrett in the opening bout of Saturday’s UFC 256 event, even dealt with some hard leg kicks from Barrett in the second that had him compromised in a couple of different points.
At the beginning of the third round, Barrett was continuing to win the battles on the feet, but Hooper dropped for an Imanari roll and patiently looked for an opening. The 21-year-old eventually found his way to a heel hook and a clearly disappointed Barrett was forced to tap out.

Hooper earned a developmental deal on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2018 and made his octagon debut successfully with a first-round submission win over Daniel Teymur at UFC 245. He would go on to face longtime UFC veteran Alex Caceres and dropped a unanimous decision at June’s UFC 250 event.
Barrett drops to 0-2 in his UFC career after earning a contract on DWCS in August 2019.
