Esther Lin, MMA Fighting A pivotal matchup between light heavyweight up and comers has been agreed upon for the first quarter of 2021.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a fight between Jimmy Crute and Johnny Walker is in the works for the UFC’s event on March 27. Per sources, the bout has been verbally agreed upon and contracts have yet to be issued.
ESPN was first to report the potential booking.
Crute has finished all four of his UFC victories, including his two appearances in 2020. “The Brute” spent just under six minutes inside the octagon this past year, picking up first-round finishes of Michal Oleksiejczuk and Modestas Bukauskas to crack the top-15 at 205 pounds.
After earning three consecutive highlight-reel finishes to begin his UFC career, Walker went through the first losing streak of his career. The 28-year-old was finished by Corey Anderson and dropped a unanimous decision to Nikita Krylov, but was able to bounce back with a first-round TKO win over Ryan Spann at September’s UFC Vegas 11 event.
As of now, a location and venue have yet to be revealed for the fight card.
