Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC Warlley Alves has faced a lot of ups and downs during his UFC career but he definitely added to his highlight reel on Wednesday with his first fight back in over a year.
The former Ultimate Fighter Brazil winner came out guns blazing for his co-main event showdown against Mounir Lazzez at UFC Fight Island 8. Alves was constantly blitzing Mounir with a flurry of strikes but it was a blistering series of kicks to the body that ultimately ended the fight.
Like he was firing a machine gun, Alves just kept launching kicks at Lazzez’s midsection until he dropped to the canvas and covered up until the referee saw enough to stop the fight.
“I’m here. I’m back,” Alves said following the statement victory. “I changed many, many things in my life. I am new. I’m a new fighter. I feel happy.”
And he's BACK!

There was no feeling out period with Alves coming out the gate firing almost immediately as he sought to overwhelm Lazzez before the second time UFC fighter could even get his feet set in the octagon.
Alves was just swarming with strikes but Lazzez managed to survive the first few exchanges.
That all changed when Alves decided to target the body and he unleashed a trio of consecutive kicks that finally saw Lazzez drop to the ground. Alves continued to throw shots until the referee pulled him off as the Brazilian celebrated his first win since 2019.
Afterwards, Alves called his shot by taking aim at one of the UFC’s biggest stars.
“I don’t like ‘weed guys.’ I hate that because it gives a bad example to the sport,” Alves said. “Nate Diaz, fight me because I’ll prove I don’t do drugs, you’re a ‘weed guy.’ I don’t like that. Let’s go, Nate Diaz. Let’s do this. UFC, let’s do this.”
