Dominick Reyes vs Jeremy Kimball | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Former title challenger Dominick Reyes will have to wait until later in 2021 to make his return to action after suffering an injury that has knocked him out of his upcoming fight against Jiri Prochazka on Feb. 27.
According to UFC officials, Reyes was forced out of the fight due but there were no further details offered about the injury or how long he would be sidelined.
The good news is the UFC anticipates rebooking the fight between Reyes and Prochazka at a later date, although no exact timeline has been determined yet.
Reyes was looking to return to the win column after suffering back-to-back losses in title fights in 2020.
After falling to former champion Jon Jones in a razor close decision to start the year, Reyes then suffered a knockout loss to reigning 205-pound king Jan Blachowicz this past September.
As for Prochazka, the Czech fighter made quite a first impression with his octagon debut as he knocked out former title contender Volkan Oezdemir in the second round at UFC 251 this past July.
Overall, Prochazka has won 11 fights in a row including victories over UFC veterans C.B. Dollaway and Fabio Maldonado.
With Reyes vs. Prochazka delayed to a later date, a heavyweight fight between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane has been promoted to the new five-round main event on Feb. 27.
