Instead, Reneau and Chiasson are expected to clash at the upcoming UFC event on Feb. 27.
Reneau made the announcement on her Instagram account while revealing her positive test for the coronavirus.
“The fight between Macy Chiasson and I has been cancelled for this weekend,” Reneau wrote on the social media platform. “Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID. I am feeling 100 percent fine with no symptoms.
“Macy and I have agreed to run it back on February 27! I appreciate Macy and her camp for being professional and willing to make this fight happen.”
As Reneau stated, she’s not suffering from any serious symptoms as related to her positive COVID-19 diagnosis so obviously she believes pushing the fight back a few weeks will allow the disease to run its course before she can be cleared to compete again.
The 43-year-old Reneau is currently riding a three-fight losing streak in the bantamweight division after dropping decisions to Raquel Pennington, Cat Zingano and Yana Kunitskaya.
As for Chiasson, the former Ultimate Fighter winner has gone 4-1 thus far in her UFC career and she’s coming off a win over Shanna Young in her most recent appearance in February 2020.
Reneau vs. Chiasson will join the Feb. 27 card, which is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane.
