Thomas Lakes, MMA Fighting A new co-main event has been announced for UFC 258 as flyweights Maycee Barber and Alexa Grasso clash on the pay-per-view headlined by welterweight champion Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns.
UFC announced the news on Thursday along with the full card, which takes place Feb. 13 at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
The original co-main event for the card was scrapped after former middleweight champion Chris Weidman was forced out of a scheduled rematch against Uriah Hall. That fight is expected to be rescheduled for UFC 260 in April.
The fight next weekend serves as a return to action for Barber after she suffered a serious knee injury in her previous outing, a unanimous decision defeat to Roxanne Modafferi. Prior to that fight, Barber had been undefeated in her UFC career with three consecutive wins.
Meanwhile, Grasso seeks her second consecutive win after making a successful debut at 125 pounds in August 2020. Grasso defeated Ji Yeon Kim in her first appearance in the flyweight division, and she will look to continue the climb up the rankings with the fight against Barber.
The final main card and preliminary card bout order will be announced next week, but here’s the full UFC 258 lineup as announced by the promotion.
