Askar Askar | Zuffa LLC Askar Askar will not be making his UFC debut Saturday night.
The UFC announced that Askar has not been medically cleared to compete at tonight’s UFC Vegas 18 event. He was scheduled to fight Cody Stamann in a featherweight bout on the main card. The bout has been canceled.
It has not been announced which bout, if any, will replace Stamann-Askar on the main card.
Askar, 26, stepped in on less than a week’s notice for Stamann’s originally scheduled opponent Andre Ewell, who tested positive for COVID-19. The Chicago-based fighter compiled an 11-1 record competing for notable regional promotions such as the LFA, Island Fights, and Titan FC.
Stamann (19-3-1), a bantamweight contender, competed twice at 145 pounds in 2020. He went 1-1, losing by unanimous decision in his most recent outing against Jimmie Rivera.
