Justin Gaethje doesn't think Charles Oliveira has a case to fight for the UFC lightweight belt next. | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Charles Oliveira is adamant he should be next for the UFC lightweight belt with Khabib Nurmagomedov walking away from the sport, but former interim titleholder Justin Gaethje won’t defend his case.
“Do Bronx” has won eight in a row in the lightweight division, breaking the record for most submissions in UFC history and defeating Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee in 2020. That said, Gaethje doesn’t seem impressed by his full body of work.
“Sick of hearing [Charles Oliveira] deserves anything,” Gaethje wrote on Twitter, adding a picture of Oliveira’s current winning streak. “Other than Tony what the f*ck has this dude done to get a shot at a title?”

Asked by a follower if he thinks he deserves to be in a title fight after his most recent loss to Nurmagomedov, Gaethje simply replied “No.” The lightweight star has added, however, he does give Oliveira credit “for stacking up dubs, but that’s now how this works.”
