Promotional officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that the lightweight matchup between Jim Miller and Bobby Green has been scratched from Saturday night’s lineup. Following the event’s official weigh-ins, Miller and Green did not face off, which led to questions amongst the MMA community.
UFC president Dana White spoke with members of the media backstage at the UFC APEX moments later and revealed that Green had collapsed backstage after being the last to the scales and successfully making weight at 156 pounds.
With the veteran lightweight matchup no longer taking place, the UFC’s second PPV event of 2021 will move ahead with 11 fights. In addition, the featherweight matchup between Brian Kelleher and Ricky Simon will now take place on the PPV main card.
UFC 258 will be headlined by a highly intriguing matchup for the welterweight title between former teammates Kamaru Usman and Gilber Burns.
