The Nevada State Athletic Commission is requiring the UFC welterweight champ to submit a clear X-ray to rule out a six-month suspension after this past Saturday’s pay-per-view event, according to medical suspensions issued by the NAC and released by mixedmartialarts.com.
Usman defeated his former training partner Gilbert Burns via third-round TKO, notching his third title defense after a tough start in which he was rocked by a punch. The champ is suspended for 30 days regardless of the X-ray results; Burns is suspended until March 31 for his TKO loss.
A total of 15 fighters were suspended following the event, which took place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
In other notable suspensions, co-headliners Alexa Grasso and Maycee Barber each face potential six-month terms for injuries suffered in their three-round fight. Grasso, who won the bout via unanimous decision, needs medical clearance for a potentially injured right knee, while Grasso needs an MRI on her shoulder.
