Multiple people with knowledge of the matchup confirmed to MMA Fighting on Wednesday that verbal agreements are in place for the fight, though contracts have not been issued or signed at this time. ESPN initially reported the contest.
A constant threat since moving to 125 pounds, Chookagian looks to build on one of her strongest showings to date when she earned a unanimous decision over Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 255 this past November. Chookagian has gone 2-2 overall in her past four fights with her losses coming to reigning flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko and former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade.
As for Araujo, she will look to build on a recent two-fight win streak after she picked up decisions over Roxanne Modafferi and Montana De La Rosa. Araujo is currently 4-1 since joining the UFC roster with her only loss coming for ex-title challenger Jessica Eye.
