After knocking off his first three opponents inside the octagon, Gane was given a big step up in competition against Dos Santos, a former UFC heavyweight champion. “Cigano” entered the contest on a three-fight skid, but was still considered a stiff test for Gane.
In the second round, Gane found a home for his powerful strikes, stunning Dos Santos with a jab before finishing with a pair of heavy elbows. It was the fourth straight TKO loss for Dos Santos. Afterwards, the ex-champ complained that the elbow that took him out of the fight was an illegal strike to the back of his head.
Gane next takes his 7-0 record into his first UFC main event when he fights Jairzinho Rozenstruik this Saturday at UFC Vegas 20 in Las Vegas.
