Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Johnny Munoz and Mark Striegl will square off at UFC 261. The event takes place April 24 and currently does not have a venue or location announced.
Munoz makes his second promotional appearance after stepping in on short notice to face Nate Maness in August, dropping a somewhat controversial unanimous decision. “Kid Kvenbo” was victorious in his previous 10 professional bouts, which all took place for King of the Cage where he became the promotion’s bantamweight champion.
Striegl is also set to make his sophomore octagon appearance and will look to pick up his first win in the UFC. “Mugen” made his promotional debut in October and was stopped by Said Nurmagomedov at UFC Fight Island 6. The ONE Championship veteran holds a 2014 submission win over current UFC flyweight contender Kai Kara-France.
UFC 261 will feature a pair of championship bouts, including Valentina Shevchenko defending her flyweight title against Jessica Andrade, while Zhang Weili returns for the first time in 13 months to defend her strawweight title against former champion Rose Namjuanas.
