On Wednesday, multiple sources confirmed the news to MMA Fighting with plans to reschedule the bout at a later date, although that new event has not been determined just yet.
Craig initially announced the news via his Instagram account.
“Fight has been cancelled due to Hill pulling out. Rematch has been agreed,” Craig wrote.
Following Craig’s initial post, Hill went to his own Instagram account to respond and clarify why the fight had to be rescheduled to a later date.
“The fight has been postponed, it’s not cancelled,” Hill said. “I haven’t pulled out of anything. I specifically called and asked them to make sure they kept the same match intact.
“I’m having some complications from COVID. I contracted COVID a little over a week ago and the sh*t ain’t been going f**king good for me. I started out with a fever, I’ve been dealing with all type of symptoms ever since then including chest tightness, chest congestion, my breathing is off and as recent as yesterday, I coughed up blood. I spit some mucus out and there was blood inside of it. So f**k what anybody talking about. My health is in question. When my health is in question, that’s going to get my undivided attention.”
Hill is considered one of the brightest prospects in the UFC light heavyweight division while boasting a perfect record, including a recent TKO against former interim title challenger Ovince Saint Preux.
