Ryan Spann came in half a pound over the limit (including one-pound allowance) for his 205-pound bout opposite Misha Cirkunov that is scheduled for the penultimate bout at UFC Vegas 21 in Las Vegas.
Spann has an additional hour to attempt to make weight. If he is heavy on his second try, Spann and Cirkunov’s teams will have to negotiate whether the bout will proceed at a catchweight and if so, what percentage of Spann’s purse he will forfeit to Cirkunov.
The 25 other fighters competing Saturday all successfully made weight, including welterweight headliners Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad. Edwards came in at 170.5 pounds, while Muhammad made championship weight at 170 on the dot. This will be Edwards’ first fight since July 20, 2019, while Muhammad fights for the second time in under a month as he steps in on short-notice to replace Khamzat Chimaev (COVID-19 symptoms).
