UFC Vegas 21 video: Rani Yahya wraps up 21st career submission with arm-triangle choke to finish Ray Rodriguez

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist was relentless with his takedowns and control time on the canvas before finally advancing his position while shredding Rodriguez’s defense, which led to him locking up the fight-ending arm triangle choke.
The tap out came at 3:09 into the second round.
“It feels the best,” Yahya said after notching his first win since 2018. “I’ve been training for a long time, all of last year looking for this win. It’s the best feeling in the world. I am actually fighting for that feeling.”
Never one to hid his game plan, Yahya was setting up his takedowns from the first exchange in the fight and once he got the fight to the floor, Rodriguez was just treading water trying to survive.
While he was looking for the same arm-triangle choke that eventually earned him the finish in the first round, Yahya never over extended himself to ensure he maintained control on top.
Finally after setting up the same submission in the second round, Yahya found the opening he needed to latch onto the head and arm to lock down the choke. Even with Yahya stuck in the half-guard, Rodriguez couldn’t muster enough space to escape and he was forced to tap out.
It was the 21st career submission for Yahya, who moves to 27-10-1 with one no contest during his career and judging by his post-fight demeanor, he’s got plenty of years left to add to that record.
