Ben Rothwell vs. Philipe Lins re-booked for May 8 UFC event

Ben Rothwell (left) suffered an injury earlier this month, postponing his fight with Philipe Lins | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting The heavyweight clash between Ben Rothwell and Philipe Lins is back on for UFC’s May 8 event, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting following a report from MMA Junkie.
Rothwell vs. Lins was originally scheduled for March 13 in Las Vegas, but got cancelled days before the fight due to an injury to Rothwell.
The UFC has yet to officially announce the venue and location for the Fight Night show, which is also without an announced main event.
Rothwell (38-13) was on a two-fight winning streak over Stefan Struve and Ovince Saint Preux prior to a decision loss to Marcin Tybura in his most recent bout in October 2020, dropping his overall UFC record to 8-7.
Throughout his 20-year professional career in the sport, Rothwell has scored stoppage victories over the likes of Josh Barnett, Matt Mitrione, Alistair Overeem, Brendan Schaub and Brandon Vera.
Lins (14-5), the 2018 PFL heavyweight champion, has yet to secure a win inside the octagon. The Brazilian fighter went 4-0 with the PFL in 2018 before suffering defeats to Andrei Arlovski and Tanner Boser in a span of seven weeks in 2020.
