Kamaru Usman and Francis Ngannou | @francisngannou, Instagram Francis Ngannou has a UFC champion riding with him as he chases gold of his own.
When Ngannou meets Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 260 on March 27 , he’ll have welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in his corner. He revealed the news on the latest episode of his vlog released earlier this week.
“Kamaru Usman is gonna be in my corner for this fight,” Ngannou said. “So it’s good having him here, helping me out with the fight. By this time you need everything. Basically, he’s gonna be in my corner and it’s good for him to train where I am and to bring his own asset into the game to help because this is a very decisive moment leading up to the fight. It’s very important to get with him, he’s gonna be in my corner helping me with my wrestling, which is great.”
Ngannou and Miocic first fought three years ago at UFC 220 in Boston. Looking for his record-setting third straight successful defense of the UFC heavyweight title, Miocic defused the dangerous Ngannou with his wrestling en route to a lopsided unanimous decision win. After losing to Derrick Lewis in his next fight, Ngannou rattled off four knockout victories to set up a second meeting with Miocic.

Ngannou, who hails from Cameroon, recently shared photos of himself with Usman, a native Nigerian, in a social media post proudly touting their African heritage.
