Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images Montel Jackson proved why he was the biggest favorite at UFC Vegas 22 by making quick work of Jesse Strader on the preliminary card.
With -700 odds in his favor, Jackson came out with a lot of confidence as he began trading hands with Strader, who failed to make weight on Friday after accepting the short notice bout just nine days ago. During an early exchange, Jackson threw a knee to the body and then just as Strader pulled away he launched a ferocious right hand.
Strader dropped to the ground and that was the beginning of the end as Jackson continued to pursue him until he blasted the UFC newcomer with a left-right combination that put him down for the final time.
Jackson continued throwing shots until the referee jumped into stop the contest with the end coming at just 1:58 into the opening round.

“I feel pretty good. I feel great,” Jackson said after the win. “I didn’t feel like I was all drained or exhausted. It was spot on. I’m going to take the traditional week off and then right back to it.”
With the win, Jackson moves to 4-2 overall in his UFC career while also bouncing back from a loss in his previous fight in July 2020 as he continues to prove he’s a threat to anyone at 135 pounds.
