Officials announced the middleweight matchup Tuesday. This will be Michailidis’ return to the 185-pound division after making his UFC debut as a light heavyweight in July of last year.
The bout was first reported by BJPenn.com.
Bhullar, who hails from Alberta, Canada, suffered the first defeat of his pro career when he ran into Tom Breese this past October at a UFC Fight Island event. The more UFC-tested Breese needed less than two minutes to dispatch Bhullar. Prior to making his UFC debut, Bhullar compiled an 8-9 record competing in Canada.
Greece’s Michailidis (12-4) saw a three-fight win streak snapped when he faced Modestas Bukauskas on Fight Island. He stepped in on less than two weeks’ notice as a replacement for Vinicius Moreira, who withdrew after testing positive for COVID-19. Michailidis debuted in the UFC on the strength of three consecutive first-round knockout victories.
A previously reported featherweight bout between Damon Jackson (18-4-1, 1 NC) and T.J. Laramie (12-4) was also made official Tuesday.
The May 1 UFC event is scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka.
