The bout is a rematch from their first meeting at UFC 220. Ngannou had stopped six straight opponents and was widely expected to win the fight. But Miocic survived his powerful punches in the first round and used wrestling to turn the tide en route to a unanimous decision. Miocic lost the title to Daniel Cormier in his next defense, but won it back in a gutsy come-from-behind effort in the rematch and then kept it one year later in a rubber match. Widely considered to be the best UFC heavyweight of all time, Miocic again approaches a fight with Ngannou as an underdog. The Cameroon native has stopped straight opponents, all by knockout, on his road to a rematch.
