Esther Lin, MMA Fighting After a ferocious KO win over Gavin Tucker, Dan Ige will get the fight he wants.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Ige and Chan Sung Jung is in the works for the main event of the UFC’s fight card on June 19. ESPN was first to report the targeted matchup.
Ige will look for his first main event victory after dropping a unanimous decision to Calvin Kattar in July in the UFC on ESPN 13 headliner. “50K” had won six straight prior to the loss to Kattar, but quickly got back in the win column with the KO of Tucker in just 22 seconds at UFC Vegas 21 in March before subsequently calling out in his post-fight interview.
“The Korean Zombie” will be looking to bounce back after a unanimous decision loss to Brian Ortega in the main event of UFC Fight Island 6 in October. Prior to that bout, Jung had picked up back-to-back first round stoppage victories over Renato Moicano and Frankie Edgar.
