Thomas Lakes, MMA Fighting A featherweight matchup has been added to the UFC’s June schedule of events.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Charles Rosa and Justin Jaynes will square off at the UFC’s event on June 26 at a location and venue yet to be announced. MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.
Rosa has flip-flopped wins and losses in his nine-fight tenure with the UFC thus far. After a layoff that lasted over two years due to a neck injury, “Boston Strong” submitted Manny Bermudez in October 2019 at UFC Boston to become the winningest fighter in the history of the TD Garden. Rosa went on to drop a pair of decisions to Bryce Mitchell and Darrick Minner with a victory over Kevin Aguilar sandwiched in between.
Since picking up a 41-second TKO win over Frank Camacho in his short notice octagon debut this past June, Jaynes has been finished in his last three fights by Gavin Tucker, Gabriel Benitez and Devonte Smith. “Guitar Hero” entered the UFC on a five-fight winning streak with none of those victories getting out of the first round.
The UFC’s June 26 event will be headlined by a pivotal heavyweight tilt between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov.
