Nikolas Motta (right) is a former Cage Fury FC lightweight champion. | Photo via CFFC Nikolas Motta won’t be making his UFC debut on May 8, as he was forced to withdraw from a lightweight bout with Damir Hadzovic due to injury, MMA Fighting has learned following a report from Ag. Fight.
According to sources, Motta will be forced to stay on the sidelines due to a foot injury. It’s still unclear if Hadzovic will remain on the card against a different opponent.
The Fight Night card will be headlined by bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and T.J. at a yet-to-be-announced location.
Motta (12-3), who competed on the fourth season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil back in 2015, inked a deal with the promotion after capturing the vacant Cage Fury FC lightweight gold in November 2019 and defeating Joseph Lowry at Dana White’s Contender Series a year later.
Hadzovic (13-6) is aiming to return to the winning column following back-to-back defeats to Renato Moicano and Christos Gaigos, dropping his overall UFC record to 3-4. “The Bosnian Bomber” has finished Marco Polo Reyes and Marcin Held to score two of his three octagon wins.
