Over $2.5 Million Is Up for Grabs This Weekend at the 2021 CrossFit Games

There are a lot of motivating factors driving the athletes to perform well at the 2021 CrossFit Games. Apart from the glory of standing atop the CrossFit podium and earning the title of Fittest On Earth®, one could argue there are over 2.5 million reasons for this year’s class of athletes to push themselves to the limit.


Leading up to the 2021 CrossFit Games, a new season structure was developed (including Quarterfinals and Semifinals), new competition categories — including the new Adaptive Division, and now, the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games will feature the largest amount of prize money in history — $2.5 million dollars.

On June 3, 2021, CrossFit HQ released the prize money breakdown for the 2021 Games. Now that the Games are entering into the final day of competition, the $2.5 million dollars that will be handed out across multiple divisions is becoming more and more real. Here’s how the prize money offerings will be split up.

2021 CrossFit Games Prize Money Breakdown
Here’s how much each of the top athletes in four categories will take home at the Games.


Individual Athletes

• First place: $310,000
• Second place: $120,000
• Third place: $80,000
• Fourth through 20th: $55,000, $40,000, $35,000, $31,000, $29,000, $27,000, $25,000, $20,000, $18,000, $15,000, $14,000, $13,000, $12,000, $11,000, $10,000, $9,000, $8,000

Individual Event Wins

• First place: $3,000
• Second place: $2,000
• Third place: $1,000

Team Competition

• First place: $100,000
• Second place: $70,000
• Third place: $40,000
• Fourth place: $25,000
• Fifth place: $20,000

Masters Athletes

• Masters 35-39, first place: $25,000
• Masters 35-39, second place: $10,000
• Masters 35-39, third place: $5,000
• Masters 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-64, first place: $10,000
• Masters 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-64, second place: $5,000
• Masters 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-64, third place: $3,000
• Masters 65+, first place: $5,000
• Masters 65+, second place: $3,000
• Masters 65+, third place: $2,000

Adaptive Athletes

• Upper extremity, lower extremity, and neuromuscular, first place: $5,000
• Upper extremity, lower extremity, and neuromuscular, second place: $3,000
• Upper extremity, lower extremity, and neuromuscular, third place: $2,000

Bonus Money
In addition to the official purse, there’s another cash prize incentivizing athletes from the sidelines. Previous Games sponsor, Reebok, announced that they would offer a bonus prize to every event winner throughout the 2021 CrossFit Games.

• Individual/Teams Divisions: $10,000 for first place finishers; $2,000 for second place finishers
• Masters/Teens/Adaptive Divisions: $1,000 for first place finishers; $500 for second place finishers

In order to be eligible for the bonus, Reebok stated that athletes must sign a participation agreement and wear qualifying Reebok footwear during the event.


Cash Out Coming Soon
The CrossFit Games is entering the final day of competition, and four-time champion, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, holds a commanding lead atop the women’s group, while Justin Medeiros leads the men’s group. Whoever claims the title of Fittest On Earth® will also earn $310,000. As the standings solidify, every improvement an athlete can make on the leaderboard means a little more money in their pocket. On the other hand, every mistake will cost them a pretty penny.
