A Ripped Big Ramy Is Hard to Beat

By Steve Blechman

The list of men in this world who even stand a chance of beating a ripped Big Ramy is a very short one indeed. Will the huge Egyptian bring home the Sandow again?

2021 Mr. Olympia champion Big Ramy was someone that nearly everyone in bodybuilding, fans and industry insiders alike, saw as a future Mr. Olympia from the moment he stormed the stage at 285 pounds in May 2013 to win his professional debut at the New York Pro. In the years that followed, Big Ramy climbed the steep terrain of Mount Olympia and eventually brought home the Sandow in 2020. Now that Big Ramy has the Mr. Olympia title, the big question on everyone’s mind going into this year’s Mr. Olympia is, can he keep it? A ripped and conditioned Big Ramy is hard to beat.

Competitive bodybuilding will always be about the “freak factor” or the man with the biggest muscles, assuming all else is equal. It’s been said for decades that a good big man always beats a good smaller man. At 5-foot-10 and 290 pounds, Big Ramy is the biggest man heading into the 2021 Mr. Olympia. The list of men in this world who even stand a chance of beating a ripped Big Ramy is a very short one indeed. Will the huge Egyptian bring home the Sandow again? Ron Harris answers this question about the Enhanced Labs athlete in “5 Reasons Big Ramy Will Win the 2021 Mr. Olympia Title:Why We Could See the First Repeat Champ in 4 Years.”

The 2021 Mr. Olympia is unique for a number of reasons, including having its quickest turnaround since it began in 1965: less than 10 months after the 2020 contest rather than the usual full year. The fact that the 2021 Arnold Classic was held just two weeks prior as opposed to the usual six months also makes things interesting for competitors, as many of the Mr. Olympia men were also on stage in Columbus. But one thing remains the same: the Mr. Olympia is still the ultimate title in our sport, our Super Bowl, and the show we all live and breathe for all season long. Find out who competed in Orlando this year seeking to be crowned the world’s top bodybuilder in MD’s “2021 Mr. Olympia Preview.”

George Peterson has only been a 212 pro for a little over a year after three successful seasons in Classic Physique. Ron Harris caught up with “Da Bull,” who discussed his off-season and 2021 Olympia prep. This Redcon1 athlete says he’s all done with third place in the Mr. Olympia. “I want to be the best bodybuilder in the world, and I won’t stop until I am,” he tells MD in “George Peterson’s Back – to Win This Time!”

One of the most prestigious events in the bodybuilding and fitness community is the Arnold Classic, which each year brings the world’s best bodybuilders and the fittest men and women on the planet to Columbus, Ohio. The 2021 Arnold Classic took place on Saturday, September 25 and featured four IFBB Pro League divisions – Arnold Classic men’s open bodybuilding, Arnold Classic Physique, Fitness International and Bikini International. Pro Bikini athletes are always a fan favorite at the Arnold, and this month, ace physique photographer J.M. Manion showcases “Arnold Bound Beauties,” five of the most beautiful Bikini International athletes who competed in this year’s Arnold – Jennifer Dorie, Jasmine Gonzalez, Jourdanne Lee, Breena Martinez and Isa Pecini.
