For reference, the current all-time world record Atlas Stone lift, regardless of weight class, is held by 2021 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion Tom Stoltman. “The Albatross” successfully lifted a 286-kilogram (630.5-pound) Atlas Stone in World’s Ultimate Strongman (WUS) “Feats of Strength” series on May 23, 2020.
Other Records on the Table
Although the Atlas Stone record is the signature event of the contest, there will be two other record-breaker events held at this contest:
The farmer’s carry will challenge athletes to establish their max weight for 15 meters (49.2 feet). Unlike some farmer’s carry events where athletes are allowed to lower the weight, pick them back up, and continue the route within a given time limit, this record breaker event is “no drops allowed.”
There is not a single unifying and overarching body that tracks world records in strongman. In his email to BarBend, Heltemes, who reached out to several other athletes who independently track world records, said, “it’s widely agreed upon…that no U105KG athlete has carried more than 150 kilograms (330.7 pounds) per hand in competition. Therefore, anything north of 150 kilograms per hand will be counted.” Heltemes expects athletes will successfully attempt 160-170 kilograms per hand.
The bag toss will use a 50-pound bag, and athletes will have the opportunity to establish their max height. Per Heltemes, “the bag thrown will be 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds), and nothing less than 5.5 meters (18 feet) will be considered.”

Competing Strongmen
Below are some of the competitive highlights of the five strongmen featured at the Strengthlete Feat of Strength: U105KG World Record Atlas Stone.
Mike Congdon
Congdon has spent seven years as a competitive strongman. He recently ranked first overall in the Clash on the 2021 Clash at the Corrall, a contest in the 2022 Clash on the Coast Super Series, in September 2021. Congdon is the reigning United States Strongman (USS) heavyweight champion.
Adam Derks
Derks competed in the group stage of the 2018 WSM contest, where he finished in fourth place out of six competitors. In that group was four-time WSM champion Brian Shaw, 2020 Britain’s Strongest Man (BSM) Adam Bishop, and 2021 WSM competitor Johnny Hansson. Derks also competed at the 2017 Arnold Australia contest and won bronze at the 2017 Giants Live North American Open.
Joshua Eisele
Eisele’s prowess in the Húsafell Stone was on display at the 2020 Strongman Corporation Nationals competition, where he carried the legendary implement 363 feet. He won that event in the middleweight division (U105KG). Although not an Atlas Stone, Eisele has loaded a 550-pound keg to a four-foot platform, which could translate well to the competition in Englewood.
Adam Geiger
Geiger earned a silver-medal finish at the 2018 Strongman Corporation Nationals. He ranked 18th overall at the 2018 Arnold Amateur World Championships and 13th at the 2019 America’s Strongest Man (ASM) contest.
Darin Heltemes
Heltemes is the 2018 USS Nationals champion. He ranked fourth overall at the 2018 WSM U105KG, finished in 12th at the 2020 Strongman Corporation Nationals, landed as the runner-up at the 2021 Strongman Champions League Lightweight (SCLL) World Championship Qualifier, and took sixth at the 2021 SCLL World Championship Final.

Heltemes told BarBend that he believes the future of U105KG strongman is bright:
The long-term goal is to change the landscape of the sport, raise the standards, push the records higher, and achieve greater recognition for the U105KG weight class. This is really only the beginning.

The Strengthlete Feat of Strength: U105KG World Record Atlas Stone competition will be live-streamed free of charge via imfromdenver.com starting at 12:00 p.m. EST. Live results will be updated and available on Strength Results. The event will allow in-person spectators to watch the event for free at V23 Athletics in Englewood, CO.
