2022 HYROX World Championships Set for May 14th in Las Vegas, NV

HYROX, the international competitive hybrid fitness race organization founded in 2017, is in its fourth season and preparing to crown its 2022 world champions. On Jan. 25, 2022, the organization announced in a press release that the 2022 HYROX World Championships are scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. This is the first time that the world championships will be held in the United States.


One thousand two hundred athletes of all levels will compete in various Individual, Doubles, and Team Relay competitions. The main event will feature the Men’s and Women’s Elite Individual divisions, where 15 qualified athletes in both divisions will compete for a total purse of $75,000.

The breakdown of the prize money for men and women in the Elite category is as follows.

HYROX races alternate one kilometer runs with eight different functional fitness tasks. The goal is to finish all runs and tasks in the fastest time possible. The workouts are the same for every HYROX event. The elite division workouts and weights for the 2022 HYROX World Championships are as follows:

• Workout One — 1,000 meters on the SkiErg.
• Workout Two — 50-meter Sled Push | Women: 275 pounds, Men: 385 pounds
• Workout Three — 50-meter Sled Pull | Women: 165 pounds, Men: 275 pounds
• Workout Four — 80 meters Burpee Broad Jumps
• Workout Five — 1,000-meter Row
• Workout Six — 200-meter Farmer’s Carry | Women: 53 pounds, Men: 70 pounds
• Workout Seven — 100-meter Sandbag Lunges | Women: 45 pounds, Men: 66 pounds
• Workout Eight — 100 Wall Balls | Women: 14 pounds, Men: 20 pounds

The 2021 HYROX world champions were Lauren Weeks and Tobias Lautwein — both qualified to compete in the 2022 event to defend their crowns. The world champions in 2020 were Weeks and Hunter McIntyre. Athletes qualify through HYROX competitions held in eight countries in Europe and North America. The final list of competitors for the 2022 HYROX World Championships hasn’t been confirmed at the time of this article’s publication as the season is still in progress.


The 2022 North American Championships held in Chicago, IL, on Jan. 24, 2022, saw Ryan Kent and Weeks emerge victoriously and qualify to compete in Las Vegas. As of this writing, Weeks is expecting a child, and her participation in the 2022 HYROX World Championships hasn’t been confirmed.
