When one of the most elite powerlifters on the planet gives an inside look at their training in the gym, it is not farfetched that they might share a historic lift. That’s the case with the current raw deadlift world record holder in the superheavyweight division Tamara Walcott. Walcott shared a video on her TikTok page that she then reposted on her Instagram page on Feb. 5, 2022, that featured her deadlifting 14 pounds over the 288.5-kilogram (636-pound) raw deadlift record she scored at the 2021 World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) The Showdown in Kansas City, MO.

After a sniff of ammonia and an adjustment of her weight belt, Walcott squared up to the barbell. She performed her signature set up of two giant steps, a back kick, and two forward flicks of her wrists before locking out 294.8 kilograms (650 pounds) — a new raw world record had it been performed in competition. Check it out below:

In the caption of her Instagram post, Walcott already called her shot as to when her current raw world record will fall:

Stay tune [sic] as I work towards Breaking my own ATWR. FOR THE HEAVIEST WOMEN’S DEAD LIFT IN THE NEXT 8 days.

The event in question is the 2022 WRPF Ghost Clash in Miami, FL, on Feb. 12-13, 2022. Walcott will attempt to break her deadlift world record, the current all-time raw squat world record, and the heaviest total ever scored by a female powerlifter.

The current all-time raw squat world record is a 278.9-kilogram (614.9-pound) lift by April Mathis, scored at the 2011 American Powerlifting Federation (APF) Southern States contest, according to Open Powerlifting. Mathis also hit the all-time total world record at that same event — a massive 730.2 kilograms (1,609.8 pounds).

Walcott’s competition best squat is 265 kilograms (584.2 pounds) — nearly 14 kilograms shy of Mathis’ all-time world record. If Walcott finds success in exceeding Mathis’ all-time total world record, she will have scored the two heaviest totals ever as Walcott currently holds the second all-time heaviest total of 718.5 kilograms (1,584 pounds). Walcott and Mathis are the only female powerlifters to hit surpass the 700-kilogram milestone total.

Judging from her performance on a lifting platform in the back half of 2021 and her current competition prep, Walcott has a real shot at claiming each record on her agenda at the 2022 WRPF Ghost Clash. If successful, she would topple records that have stood for over a decade.
