On Mar. 26, 2022, Danny Grigsby (140KG) etched his name in the powerlifting history books by becoming the first athlete to deadlift over 1,000 pounds in a full powerlifting meet, pulling 465 kilograms (1,025.2 pounds) raw.
Less than three weeks later, the 28-year-old powerlifter still has his foot glued to the gas pedal. On April 10, 2022, Grigsby posted on Instagram of him pulling 415 kilograms (915 pounds) raw for two reps. Then, promptly after his monstrous double, Grigsby kept 350 kilograms (771 pounds) on the bar and repped it eight times (like, what?).

While wearing a singlet and lifting belt, Grigsby performed the 415-kilogram lift in a sumo stance and using a hook grip. The powerlifter completed both reps with relative ease and did not struggle at any point during the lift. For the 350-kilogram pull, Grigsby used lifting straps. He maintained a steady rep-tempo during the first seven reps but stopped for a short breather before knocking out the final rep.
Grigsby didn’t reveal his body weight at the time of performing these lifts. However, he weighed 125.9 kilograms (277.5 pounds) at the 2022 USPA Virginia Beach Classic 2.
The 415-kilogram deadlift for two reps puts Grigsby in a league of his own. To put the lift into perspective, the third heaviest deadlift of all time at 140 kilograms is 415 kilograms (achieved by Chris Weist in 2018); Grigsby repped it for two.

The 28-year-old powerlifter set the 465-kilogram all-time deadlift raw world record on his third attempt at the 2022 USPA Virginia Beach Classic 2 after moving up to the 140-kilogram weight class from the 125-kilogram division.

Deadlift — 465 kilograms (1025.1 pounds) | 2022 USPA Virginia Beach Classic 2
Total — 960 kilograms (2116.4 pounds) | 2021 WRPF The Bucket Up Shodown

Looking Ahead
Considering his 415-kilogram deadlift, it would be safe to say that Grigsby will be looking to better his 465-kilogram (1,025.2-pound) deadlift raw all-time world record soon.
Without delving into details, Grigsby previously stated that he would next be competing in a full-power meet in the summer of 2022. His goal at the meet would is upwards of a 1,043.3-kilogram (2,300-pound) total.
