Hunter Henderson has added another world record to her list of accomplishments in powerlifting.
On Sunday, May 1, 2022, the 82.5-kilogram powerlifter broke the all-time world record in the back squat (raw with wraps) by lifting 305 kilograms (672 pounds). Henderson competed at the 2022 FQ Classic in Las Vegas, NV. Henderson’s coach and another all-time world record holder, Joe Sullivan, shared Henderson’s moment on Instagram.

The meet was sanctioned by the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WPRF). Henderson fared quite well on the other two lifts as well. The summary of her day is below.

Squat — 305 kilograms (672 pounds)
Bench Press — 154.6 kilograms (341 pounds)
Deadlift — 254.8 kilograms (562 pounds)
Total — 714.15 kilograms (1,575 pounds)

According to Open Powerlifting, the 82.5-kilogram squat record belonged to Chakera Ingram, who lifted 295 kilograms (650.3 pounds) at the 2019 Boss of Bosses 6 meet. Henderson now owns the 82.5-kilogram and 75-kilogram all-time world records in the raw squat with wraps. In 2021, she squatted 295 kilograms (650 pounds) at the WRPF Kern US Open.
She was proud of the performance she put on in the meet, and she expressed her thoughts in a statement to BarBend.
“This was, in my opinion, my best performance to date, and I’m very excited to see what I will do next,” Henderson said. “I had an absolute blast competing yesterday, and I am very grateful for another opportunity to represent women’s powerlifting.”

Henderson is also a professional bodybuilder. In July 2021, Henderson won the NPC USA Championship in Women’s Bodybuilding and earned IFBB Pro League status. Bodybuilding and powerlifting are two very different sports. It’s hard to obtain the strength needed to lift world records while building the muscle mass to dominate the pro bodybuilding stage. As for which sport Henderson plans on focusing on, she told BarBend that she does have a plan.
I’m going to take a long off-season.
“I competed five times last year, so I’d like to tone it down a bit this year,” Henderson said. “I’m going to stay in powerlifting.”
This is Henderson’s second meet of 2022. She previously competed in the United States Powerlifting Association’s (USPA) Hybrid Showdown 4 contest. She set the raw world record in the squat at 82.5 kilograms at that meet, thanks to a good lift of 250 kilograms (551.1 pounds). As of this writing, her next meet hasn’t been announced.
