The third weekend of the 2022 CrossFit Semifinals saw a lot of action around the world. From the in-person Far East Throwdown in Busan, South Korea and Granite Games in Eagan, MN to the virtual competitions for the Age Group (50+) and Adaptive Semifinals, CrossFit fans and athletes had a lot to look forward to coming into the start of June.
Held virtually for the top 20 athletes in each of the 16 adaptive divisions, the Adaptive Semifinal took place from June 2-5. The stakes were high for athletes across every division, but they were slightly different across divisions. Three divisions — Neuromuscular, Lower Extremity, and Upper Extremity — will be sending their top five athletes to compete in Madison. The winners from remaining five divisions — Vision, Intellectual, Seated With Hip Function, Seated Without Hip Function, and Short Stature — were crowned the fittest.

2022 CrossFit Adaptive Semifinal Madison-Bound Overall Leaderboard
The top five competitors in the Neuromuscular, Lower Extremity, and Upper Extremity divisions will be moving on to compete in Madison in August. Brett Horchar in men’s Neuromuscular won first in the starting three events, and took home second in the fourth and sixth. This dominant performance landed him first overall in his division. Alyssa Kobela on the women’s Neuromuscular side never finished lower than third to secure her first-place finish overall.
In men’s Upper Extremity, Games veteran Casey Acree finished second in the first event, but bounced back with first place wins in the next four events. That wasn’t entirely surprising, given his first-place finish in six of seven events during the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games. He also won the 2022 CrossFit Open across the world in his division, and is poised for another dominant performance in Madison this year.

On to the Games
Not all of the top athletes from the Adaptive Semifinal will be heading to the Games — having already been crowned the fittest — but the top five athletes from the Neuromuscular, Lower Extremity, and Upper Extremity divisions will be joining their peers in Madison, WI for the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games, slated for Aug. 3-7.
Ahead of the Games, June 10-12 will mark the last weekend of the Semifinals. The CrossFit Copa Sur, Strength in Depth, and Atlas Games will take the Semifinals across the globe, from Vitória and England to Québec. The Last-Chance Qualifier will be held the week of June 29 – July 1, 2022. It will give athletes who’ve just missed their tickets one more swing at Madison.

The Semifinal served as a final for athletes in the Vision, Intellectual, Seated With Hip Function, Seated Without Hip Function, and Short Stature divisions. The athletes who took home wins in these divisions have therefore been crowned the fittest overall.
Note: The leaderboards will be finalized no more than a week after the competitions end, per the CrossFit Games Rulebook. This article will be updated to confirm which athletes secured top spots when the information becomes available.

2022 CrossFit Adaptive Semifinal Event Results
The events sprawled out over four days, leaving the leaderboards wide open to changes across the weekend. But a few athletes consistently topped their divisions. Amalia Ortuño took home first place in five of the six events in the Seated With Hip Function women’s division. In women’s Vision, Lucy Hodges never ranked lower than fourth, with two first-place finishes, earning her second in her division after Erica Powell.
On the men’s Intellectual side, Landon Payne earned first and second in the first four events and third in the final two, with Lance King taking first in workouts two and three. For the women’s Intellectual division, Hailey Melakian and Cassidty Lundskog battled closely, with Melakian taking second place in five of six events (she earned first in the Event 2), while Lundskog never let herself slip lower than fourth.
