The first ever HYROX documentary film will premiere exclusively on ESPN2 on August 1, 2022, at 7 p.m. EST. and air again on August 13, 2022, at 12 p.m. EST in the USA. It will be available globally on August 14, 2022, via YouTube. The film will offer a dramatic behind-the-scenes look at the 2021/2022 HYROX racing season that culminated at the 2022 HYROX World Championships at Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

HYROX races consist of eight rounds of a one-kilometer run plus a functional movement. Every HYROX race is the same regardless of where it takes place. Per HYROX’s press release, the 2021/2022 HYROX season featured “24 races across six countries, with over 40,000 participants,” 1,200 of whom qualified for the World Championships. Distilled further, only 15 Individual athletes in the Men’s and Women’s divisions qualified for the “Elite 15 race.”
The documentary focuses primarily on the Elite 15 qualified athletes, including the 2022 HYROX World Champions Hunter McIntyre and Kris Rugloski of the USA, podium finisher Ryan Kent, and 2022 HYROX European champion Mirjam Von Rohr. McIntyre won the HYROX World Championships in 2020 but then lost the title in 2021 to Tobias Lautwein of Germany. McIntyre reclaimed the title in 2022, besting runner-up Kent — a trade of spots from the 2022 HYROX North American Championships where Kent stood atop the podium.

2022/2023 HYROX Season
The 2022/2023 HYROX season begins with HYROX Basel on Sept. 9, 2022, in Europe and at HYROX New York on Oct. 1, 2022. A week later is HYROX Leipzig, with HYROX Birmingham and HYROX Valencia on Oct. 15. HYROX Amsterdam closes out October, and HYROX Chicago leads in on Nov. 5. HYROX Dallas is scheduled for Nov. 19, with HYROX Hamburg and HYROX Madrid on the 26th. HYROX Los Angeles and HYROX Frankfurt will occur on Dec. 10 to finish off 2022.
Eleven more races are already scheduled for 2023.
