Powerlifter Tamara Walcott has once again broken the all-time world record in the women’s raw deadlift. Competing in the 2022 World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) American Pro in Manassas, VA, on the weekend of July 29-30, 2022, she pulled 290 kilograms (639.4 pounds) on her final attempt of the day to set the new world record in the +90-kilogram class.
Walcott also squatted 272.5 kilograms (600.7 pounds), and bench pressed 172.5 kilograms (380.3 pounds) to set a new all-time world record raw total of 737.5 kilograms (1,620.4 pounds). The 272.5-kilogram (600.7-pound) squat was also a WRPF record. The biggest lifts of her performance can be seen in the reel below, courtesy of her Instagram page:

2022 WRPF American Pro — Tamara Walcott | +90KG

Squat — 272.5 kilograms (600.7 pounds)
Bench Press — 172.5 kilograms (380.3 pounds)
Deadlift — 290 kilograms (639.4 pounds) — All-Time Raw World Record
Total — 737.5 kilograms (1,620.4 pounds) — All-Time Raw World Record

The topic of discussion for most of the weekend was Walcott’s deadlift record. It took her two sanctioned meets to score above her previous world record. In this meet, she used all three attempts to up the ante for the record books. She first pulled 275 kilograms successfully, but her second attempt — the first with 290 kilograms — was a miss. The final attempt was given three white lights. Walcott used a conventional stance and a mixed grip, wore a weight belt, and had a lot of chalk on her legs when she made the historic pull.
Both of Walcott’s records at this meet are the most for any woman in any category of raw powerlifting. This is the second time in the past 12 months that she broke the deadlift world record. On Sept. 25, 2021, Walcott competed at the 2021 WRPF Bucked Up Showdown, and she pulled 288.5 kilograms to set the record that she just broke in the Old Dominion state.
These records are the latest in what has been a very successful year for Walcott. In March 2022, she competed at the Rogue Record Breakers as part of the 2022 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH, and she pulled 290.7 kilograms (641 pounds) on the Elephant Bar Deadlift to claim that world record from strongwoman competitor Andrea Thompson.
Walcott wasn’t the only athlete to break a deadlift record at the 2022 WRPF American Pro. Danny Grigsby, in the 125-kilogram class, broke the men’s all-time raw world record deadlift at the same meet by pulling 487.5 kilograms (1,074.5 pounds). As of this writing, there is no word yet on when Walcott will compete next, but history now follows her to every meet going forward, especially when she steps onto the lifting platform to deadlift.
