2022 CrossFit Games Day Two Results — Garard and O’Brien Hold Their Leads

Day Two of the 2022 CrossFit Games was initially scheduled to be a rest day for Individuals and Teams. However, due to unexpected inclement weather on Day One, Individual Event Two — “Shuttle to Overhead” — was pushed into the rest day. Event Two featured a three-round combination of shuttle runs of increasing distance and max reps in the jerk within set time caps.
Tia-Clair Toomey posted a performance more in the realm of what’s expected from the five-time reigning Fittest Woman on Earth®, leaping from her eighth-place overall rank at the end of Day One to third overall at the end of Day Two.
On the Individual Men’s side, Jeffrey Adler got into the mix with the competition leaders, scoring 100 points in the jerk portion of the event. Ricky Garard did enough to maintain his lead against Justin Medeiros and Pat Vellner, both of whom sought to take the overall leader jersey.

Several athletes entered with the strategy of prioritizing their strengths, as this event that awarded a full event’s worth of points each to the running portion and the jerk portion. Haley Adams, known for her endurance and speed, claimed 100 points for the fastest cumulative time across all three shuttle runs.
Toomey posted a solid shuttle run time to make up for her Day One performance, moving her into eighth place overall. Toomey also righted the ship with 100 points from the jerk portion after performing 18 reps, bringing her back up to third overall.
Jeffrey Adler is notoriously strong with the barbell and wasted no time proving so yet again in the jerk portion of Event Two. He was in the upper-middle of the pack for the shuttle run, but a series of smooth singles off the blocks led to him completing 19 reps and bagging 100 points as well.
