Who to Watch at the 2022 Tampa Pro
The Tampa Pro is packed to the brim with high-quality physique athletes — fresh faces and competitive veterans alike. Here’s a brief overview of just a few of the bodybuilders worth keeping an eye on:
Akim Williams
This will be Akim Williams’s first contest of 2022. Williams was originally scheduled to compete in the 2022 Arnold Classic, but was forced to withdraw after testing positive for the coronavirus. The 2021 Puerto Rico Pro champion has yet to qualify for the 2022 Olympia, so if he wants to move on to Vegas in December, he has to win big in Tampa.

Williams does have an opportunity to make a little history as well. In the contest’s 14-year history, no men’s open competitor has won it twice. Williams — who won the Tampa Pro in 2016 — could be the first.
Kamal Elgargni
Kamal Elgargni will be making his open debut at this contest, and he will also compete in the upcoming Texas Pro on Aug. 13, 2022. The 2019 Olympia 212 winner had been training with Nick Walker leading up to this show, and he’s feeling confident about his progress.
Even though he won’t have to make a certain weight in open, Elgargni won’t be counting on size to help his cause: His conditioning and symmetry will be what carries him in this show.

Elgargni can make some history himself at this contest. Only one past Olympia champion has won the Tampa Pro, and that was Dexter Jackson in 2019. Elgargni won the Olympia 212 title that same year, and he would become the second Olympia champ to win the men’s open in the Sunshine State.
Phil Clahar
Williams and Elgargni have been receiving a lot of attention leading up to the Pro, but Phil Clahar finished second in Tampa one year prior (losing out to Iain Valliere). He’s hunting for his first pro win and the Olympia qualification that comes with it — if anyone can pull off the upset, it’s Clahar, a Masters competitor competing in his hometown.
Divisions at the 2022 Tampa Pro
The Tampa Pro will feature more than 200 IFBB Pro League athletes representing 15 nations. Nine other champions will be crowned at the Tampa Pro across bodybuilding’s various divisions, and all winners will move on to the Olympia. The only division that isn’t represented is the men’s wheelchair division.
The second-through fifth-place finishers for all divisions will earn Tier 2 points on the Olympia Qualification System. Here’s how that breaks down:

2nd place – 8 points
3rd place – 7 points
4th place – 6 points
5th place – 5 points

The top three finishers in that system will also be invited to the Olympia. Competitors that win shows throughout the season are removed from that list. The full rosters for the other nine divisions are listed below in alphabetical order.
