Phil Heath dominated the Mr. Olympia scene from 2011 through 2017, winning seven consecutive titles and cementing himself as the face of bodybuilding for the better part of a decade. It was announced in mid-July that Heath will remain off the stage for the 2022 Olympia to serve as a color commentator for the event.
Still, that doesn’t mean the former champ isn’t keeping his body stage-ready. In an Instagram post from Aug. 16, 2022, Heath showed off a video of himself training biceps in the gym, and it’s clear he’s kept much of his trademark size intact.

In addition to giving his followers a look at his hefty arms and shoulders, the 42-year-old bodybuilder wrote a lengthy caption on the post that finished with a bit of a tease: “I ain’t done yet. I’m only getting started.”
Cryptic as that may be, there’s no indication that Heath’s role at the 2022 Mr. Olympia will expand any further beyond commentary at this point. While he hasn’t officially ruled anything out, Heath seems excited to tackle his new gig.
“The Olympia has meant so much to me and my legacy,” Heath said in a press release about his new commentary role. “I’m always looking for new ways to connect with fans, and I’m grateful to Jake Wood, Dan Solomon, and the entire Olympia team for this opportunity. This year’s Olympia is loaded with incredible storylines and rivalries. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Vegas.”

Heath’s last two appearances on the Olympia stage — in 2018 and 2020 — resulted in a second-place and third-place finish, respectively. According to his coach, Hany Rambod, Heath chose not to enter the contest in 2021.
