Ever since making his international contest debut at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest, Mitchell Hooper has taken the sport by storm. He finished eighth overall at the 2022 WSM and followed it up with a slew of podium finishes on the Giants Live circuit, including silver-medal finishes at the 2022 World Tour Open and 2022 Strongman Classic. He also scored a bronze medal at the 2022 Shaw Classic.
On Sept. 17, 2022, Hooper took to his Instagram page to show off his shoulder gains in training for the 2022 Rogue Invitational, set for Oct. 28-30, 2022, in Austin, TX. In the video post, he single-arm shoulder presses a person — his wife — with his left arm. Check it out below:

Hooper is one of 10 elite strongmen slated to compete at the 2022 Rogue Invitational. Although heavy hitters like four-time WSM champion Brian Shaw, two-time reigning WSM champion Tom Stoltman, and Luke Stoltman declined their invites, the roster is still loaded. Returning champion Martins Licis and bronze medalist Oleksii Novikov — both former WSM champions — are among those who Hooper will compete against.
Speaking of Novikov, he laid waste to everyone in the Heavy Dumbbell Ladder at the 2021 Rogue Invitational as the lone athlete able to lock out all five implements — no one else made it past the third. While the events are not yet known at the time of this article’s publication, it would not be unreasonable to expect the Heavy Dumbbell Ladder to return in 2022 and for Novikov to run it back.

However, if Hooper has been putting in serious work on his single-arm shoulder pressing mechanics and strength, as his lifting of a literal human might suggest, then, perhaps, Hooper versus Novikov is the matchup to look out for during the Halloween season.
We’ll see if Hooper can continue being the most significant shake-up to elite strongman competition in 2022 and go trick-or-treating with another podium finish at the 2022 Rogue Invitational. If he does, it will likely be his most considerable paycheck as a pro-strongman.
