Strongwoman competitor Rhianon Lovelace made history in her sport at the 2022 Arnold Strongman UK contest on the weekend of Sept. 2t in Birmingham, England. Lovelace set a new world record in the Axle Deadlift by lifting 261.5 kilograms (576.5 pounds).
Lovelace broke the heavyweight world record while weighing 63 kilograms (138.9 pounds). This means she broke the world record in both heavyweight and her own 64 kilogram categories by lifting 4.1 times her bodyweight. She already owned the record in her own class with a lift of 233.5 kilograms (515 pounds), which she set in May 2022. Her new historic lift can be seen at the 39 second mark of the video below, courtesy of Lovelace’s Instagram page:

Lovelace approached the axle bar with the crowd cheering her on. She was wearing a lever weight belt over her deadlift suit and used figure-eight lifting straps on the massive barbell. Her stance was a little wider than shoulder-width. Upon lifting the bar, it cleared her knees quickly, but she stalled slightly before completing the lockout and receiving the down command from the judge. She held the bar up for five extra seconds before returning it to the floor. From there, the celebration was on.
Lovelace had just competed in and won the 64 kilogram division of the Arnold UK pro strongwoman competition, which took place on Sept. 23-24, 2022. She shared her mindset and physical condition when she approached the bar in the caption of the video.
“After competing for two successful days, (with tough competition, so I couldn’t take it easy) to win the Arnold Pro Title, running off three hours of sleep, I was doubting myself. I knew I was going to need to go somewhere dark to get this done.”

This isn’t the first version of a deadlift world record that Lovelace has broken in 2022. On July 16, 2022, she competed in the Berkshire’s Strongest contest and pushed her own traditional deadlift world record up to 282.5 kilograms (622.8 pounds).
Lovelace’s victory in the Arnold UK contest along with this new record shows why she is known as the pound-for-pound strongest woman on the planet. There is no official word on if she will compete again before 2022 is over, but if she does, record watchers need to be on high alert.
